12 Days of Christmas

Description:For the next holiday card prompt, we're making a card that features a numeral (like 25) or that features one of the elements from the song The 12 Days of Christmas, so break out those...

  • Twelve Drummers Drumming
  • Eleven Pipers Piping
  • Ten Lords a Leaping
  • Nine Ladies Dancing
  • Eight Maids a Milking
  • Seven Swans a Swimming
  • Six Geese a Laying
  • Five Golden Rings
  • Four Calling Birds
  • Three French Hens
  • Two Turtle Doves
  • and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Here is how we were inspired this week:

Stephanie says, "I found this vintage illustration of the 12 Days of Christmas in a Christmas Ideals book, so I scanned it and resized the first six days for the front of my card ... I just love those drawings.  All I added was a sticker sentiment and a wrap of neutral ribbon on a teal card base."

Lauren says, "I opted for the "feature numerals" version of the prompt, and I incorporated them via a fun little December calendar journaling card from Simple Stories. The calendar wound up being more covered up than I had imagined because I got very involved in framing up pretty bits of patterned paper with these ancient chipboard circle frames I found buried deeeeeeeeeeeeep in my holiday stash! I really love them, though, so I guess I'm ok with the limited view of the calendar. (Let's face it December always winds up being a bit of a blur anyway, right?)"

And we'll pick one lucky participant to win this fun little holiday giveaway (the stamp set includes the matching dies).

Link any number of amazing "12 Days of Christmas" creations right here by 6pm (EST) on Wednesday, September 11th. Keyword for galleries and Flickr is JB:19:18.

Tag-A-Licious!

So many beautiful tag-centric creations in the gallery this fortnight. As always, you guys made it VERY difficult to only feature a few, but here are three that especially tickled our fancy:

...layered a small circle tag onto a larger rectangle tag with all the trimmings. We are definitely in favor of tags-on-tags!

...made not one, but two, beautiful and intricate tags that tuck into a specially-made pocket card!

...broke the mold of ordinary rectangles and circles with this extraordinary BELL-shaped tag creation!

Many thanks to everyone who participated, we truly enjoy seeing EVERY SINGLE CREATION! We'll be back at midnight with a brand new theme; we hope we can count on seeing you then!

TAGS! (Again!)

We're still making tags OR holiday cards which incorporate tags; and you still have time to join the fun, which we hope you will! Here's how we were inspired to create with tags this week:

Stephanie says, "This week's tag card was so easy, it almost felt like cheating ... so much so that I made several.  Pre-made silver/gold card base; 3-D glitter star tag; and sticker sentiment.  To be honest, you have some people on your card list that won't appreciate a card that takes 2 hours to make ... and these cards are for them."

Lauren says, "I'm usually more of a "cards which incorporate tags" kind of girl; but this year my card stash seems pretty healthy, so I've had fun making tags which will get attached to giftbags in December. Once again, I've made two tags that coordinate, because I have a specific pair of recipients in mind. I think everyone knows I love Doodlebug Design- especially their stickers- and I've used LOTS of them here! One of my favorite ways to use smaller items... like stickers or brads... is to frame and cluster them. Having said that, I have no problem with letting things overlap the edge of the frame, or even the edge of the tag for that matter!"

Challenge #55 Winner Announcement

Hello to all our Christmas crafting friends! I'm popping in to announce the winners and our top three Stocking Stuffers from Challenge #55. Sorry I'm running a bit late with the post. It seems things are piling up again on me but hopefully I won't get too far behind!

We had 78 entries in our July challenge--double the numbers we had the month previously which is just awesome! I have a sneaking suspicion it is because a lot of challenges generally have a 'Christmas in July' theme but I can't say for certain. I guess it will be clearer when we see next month's numbers. 😃

Now it is time to get on with the finding out who our winners are. Are you one of those lucky peeps?! Let's find out!

Lin, you are the winner of a $10.00 gift voucher to the Ike's Art store, our guest sponsor for July (chosen by random.org based on all eligible entries).

Lin, please send an email to the_12_moc_linkup {at} outlook {dot} com (or click HERE to bring the address up in your email program), with the subject, "12MoC Challenge #55 WINNER" to make arrangements to receive your prize. Please note that it may take me a while to get back to you. Thank you for your patience. In the interim, please grab a copy of the winner badge below for your blog.

Next, it is time to get on with showcasing the top three. With so many wonderful entries to choose from, it is always such a difficult task for the design team. For Challenge #55, Donna, Suze and Helen N., are presenting their favourite cards. So, without further ado, here are the Stocking Stuffers for July:

Congrats to our top three Stocking Stuffers! Nicolette, Angela and Valentyna, please grab a copy of the badge below for your blog.

Everyone who links up two cards each month is eligible to receive a free digital paper. Papers from last month have now been sent out. If you were expecting one but haven't received it yet, please leave me a comment and I'll look into it for you.

The individuals who linked up a minimum of two cards each during the month of JULY qualifying them to receive the digital paper from that month, will receive the Plaid 2 paper which received the majority of the votes. I have included the watermark of it, below...

To all of you who linked up during July, thanks ever so much! We are so happy to have all of you with us and hope that you'll continue to link up your holiday cards as you continue your stash for 2019!!! Papers will be sent to the email address that qualifying participants used when they added their cards to the Link Up, as soon as I can manage; hopefully some time this coming week!

As always, we are going to have a random draw from all the entries and give out a set of six digital papers to one lucky individual. The papers are all made so why not have an extra prize! Here is the watermark for the full set...

Multi Coloured Plaids Mini Kit

Challenge #56 Midway: Opt. Twist…Sparkle, Glitter & Bling

Welcome back folks! It is the 15th of the month and that means it is time for the midway of our current challenge. Apologies that I haven't had a chance to post the winner announcement for Challenge #55 yet. I am working on it and hope to have it out within the next few days.

As we are halfway through the month of August, it is time to see what the Merry Maidens have been up to with their fun images from Oddball Art, our guest sponsor this month!

Clicking on the DT names will take you to the individual blogs where you can check out the details for all these wonderful cards. If you are interested in purchasing the image featured in a particular card, you can click on the link indicated below the creation to head to the page in the Oddball Art store where it can be found.

So if you haven't entered already, what are you waiting for? It is time to link up your Christmas and other holiday cards for August. Below you will find a refresher of the details for this challenge.

Please remember that this is a CARDS ONLY link up. While we've had some lovely tag entries, ornaments and other creative projects in the past, we've sadly had to disqualify them.

Challenge #56

Optional Twist: Sparkle, Glitter & Bling

If you want the chance to win this month's featured paper pack, be sure to add lots of sparkle, glitter or bling to your card. You can use just one of these or all three. Whatever you choose, just make sure your card sparkles and shines.

Keep in mind though, that you don't need to follow the twist to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month or for a chance to win a $10.00 gift voucher to the Oddball Art store. You simply need to follow the twist if you'd like a chance to win this month's featured digital paper pack, Snowy Bokeh Tree Backgrounds.

If you are new to this unique challenge, you can find out the impetus behind why I started it under the 'Introductions' tab. As this is a different kind of link up where we have both an Anything Goes Christmas or other December Holiday option AND an optional twist to follow, be sure to read all the details and rules you need to know in order to participate, by checking out the 'Challenge Details' tab (both tabs located at the top of the blog). I have provided a summary of the most important rules in the right sidebar.

If you would like a say in determining which digital paper will be offered to those who link up a minimum of two cards this month, be sure to vote in our poll. Click HERE to head there now.
